Giveaway competition: Sonia of Layoutlines' Calton Hill hand drawing!

There are plenty of talented artists who sell their pieces online or as street artists, but it usually comes at a high price for good quality renditions. I had a custom portrait done of our two fur babies a few years back through a colleague of mine and I couldn’t be happier with the end result. Recently, I was introduced to Sonia Nicolson of Layoutlines whose drawings of Edinburgh’s wonderful landmarks. Not only can you get your own copy of these hand-drawn images, you can also have one custom made of your favourite building, wedding venue or pet too!

I started layoutlines as a blog whilst living in India a few years ago. I was doing sketches and making things, mostly as gifts but I discovered Etsy and decided to join. I started by listing a drawing of Edinburgh Castle and soon after was receiving emails asking for drawings of specific buildings and wedding venues. I do all the drawings myself and any prints are made locally. All my cards and tote bags are produced in the UK and I make sure to use local suppliers to help support them too. We have a great and growing industry of designer makers and I love being a part of it.

I teach Design at Uni and am a charted architect so I have always had a love of buildings and a passion for hand drawing. I plan to create a range of e-courses to help young designers and students, so watch this space in the new year!!

In the Etsy shop, you can find various etchings, lino prints, drawings of wedding venues, pets and buildings, greeting cards, ceramics and glass to name a few.

Sonia was kind enough to send me some of her beautiful prints, some with your typical Scottish sense of humour!
