My favourite finds from the Christmas/New Year sale

Out of all the resolutions I set for myself for 2014, I’ve managed to keep to 2 of them and with my glitter court shoes project I’m set for reaching a third. Not bad for 17 days into the new year, right? I’ve never been a big fan of braving the manic crowds on the first days of the sales, so just like I always do when I feel the urge to, I wait till the crowds have dispersed and browse through the further reduction sales instead. True, there might not be much of the ‘good stuff’ left when you go this late in the day, but I think sometimes the prices are worth finding those odd treasures when you do find them. So here are some of the things I’ve managed to snag for great prices I never even dreamed off.

I managed to get this bronze pair of ballet flats in the store for £3:

You can get a pair of basic ballet pumps for £7.99 at New Look

I intend to also give the flats I got glitter makeover, possibly more multi-coloured than my court shoes. I quite like the idea of making it multi-coloured with a more dominate shade in mind, although I’ve not fully decided yet whether I want these to resemble the Louboutin colours or to make it multi-coloured tinged slightly pink.

Dark grey lightweight raglan sleeve knitted sweater, was £17.99 now £9 from New Look

I also got this black with silver thread cropped jumper with a full length zip at the back for teens from the New Look store for just £7:

By teen, I really do mean it’s from the teenager’s section – the size on the label says this is meant to be 14-15 year olds, but it fits me!

Animal knit tunic, was £79, now £55 now £39 from Mint Velvet

Couldn’t get a photo of the jacket, but I got this in black:

Storm multi-zip jacket, was £119, now £59 now £39 from Mint Velvet

This wasn’t on sale, but the minute I started browsing their selection of scarves, I was really drawn to this one. I was torn by this or the Heather print scarf

Sami print scarf, £39 from Mint Velvet

Okay, you might be wondering out of all the things I bought, why I would get a card wallet. To be honest, I’ve been storing my essential cards in my coin purse and when it comes to storing receipts and other important small bits in there (like micro SD cards), it’s starting to get a bit crowded, so I thought for the price it’s going for, why not?

Multi leopard print card wallet, was £12 now £3 from Coast

I’ve always had a sense of humour when it comes to what I wear, and I absolutely love David & Goliath, so when they had a 50% off sale on all fleece and sweats (unfortunately it seems this sale is now gone when this is posted, so prices are back to their original prices), I bagged myself these (for the price I’ve shown):

Martial Artist sport scoop, original price US$44 US$22 (approx £13.40) from David & Goliath

How I Roll varsity crew, original price US$40 US$20 (approx £12.79) from David & Goliath

I’m not a big fan of Star Wars, I’ve seen a couple of the films, but I really liked this one too. I decided not to get it because I could see the amount I was spending adding up and I didn’t want people to think I was a huge Star Wars fan, otherwise this would’ve been really funny:

Spork pullover hoodie original price US$40 would have been US$20 (approx £12.79) from David & Goliath

I think my shopaholic ways need to stop, unless I can get accessories and other things dirt cheap like I did in this sale, although I did say I needed to try and stop impulse shopping right? Hopefully all those new goodies will tide me over for a while.

Did you manage to grab yourself any bargains? What were your Christmas/New Year sales (or further reduction sale) finds?
