Shop the sale at Mint Velvet

I’m the kind of person where if I find a brand that speaks to my personal sense of style, unless the style drastically changes, I stick to the brand and keep going back to buy more. I bought my first Mint Velvet top some years back and really liked their clothes. They describe themselves as a ‘relaxed glamour’ clothing store, which is pretty much how I like my clothes (smart casual but comfy) and when a boutique opened up on George Stree here in Edinburgh, even my friend couldn’t help but tell me how she thought that was my kind of shop.

The top that I bought before wasn’t too costly, but George Street is known for housing higher end, high street or designer shops, so rent will most likely be a factor in the higher price range for their products. When this sort of thing happens, the one thing I look forward to the most is when they go on sale! It must be the tail-end of the Boxing Day/New Year’s sales, but there are still some great pieces on offer!

Maybe it’s because my brain is still focused on my mum’s Chinese wedding dress and I’ve still got my glitter court shoes project to start and I’m chomping at the bit to get on it already (I’m still waiting on materials I’ve ordered to arrive in the post and am going shopping this weekend for the remaining items), but I’m quite taken by the elegant yet subtle colour of the wine coloured court shoes.

Court shoes also hold an appeal for me, because with the right heel shape and height, it’s the longstanding image of glamour. I also particularly like the almost origami-like detail to the sides of the foot. With a colour like wine, you’d be able to to wear it with almost any outfit, whether it’s a nice LBD or jeans and a pussybow blouse, you’re sure to turn heads with this subtle bit of colour.

Got any favourite key pieces from Mint Velvet?
